Athletic 1-0 Barcelona

Goal - Aduriz, 89

The Spanish La Liga kick off with the Athletic-Barcelona match.

Ernesto Valverde had to play in an unusual selection. Team leader Lionel Messi was absent due to injury. De Jong and Grizman, were selected for starting lineup, but they are still in the adaptation phase.

As the home side, Athletic took the initiative and tried to score a quick goal, but every time Bilbao players threatened the goalkeeper, Ter Stegen was reliable. After some time, Barcelona leveled the game and took the initiative, but it was lazy and timid. The Catalans had a chance when López handed the ball to Suarez, whose shot hit the goalkeeper.

After the half time, the Catalans took total control and pushed forward. Rafinha was particularly active. Athletic concentrated on defense and put their hope on counter-attacks. Rakitic could have scored a goal at one of the many corners, but his shot was deflected. At the end of the game, the Basks got more active and the game was moved to the Catalans' part of the field, making their fans finally happy with scoring an astonishing goal. Aduriz came in as a sub and needed only one minute to make a difference in the game. Aduriz who is 37-year-old scored a miraculous acrobatic goal and gave his team a 1-0 victory.

Barcelona starts with a defeat, but this is only the beginning of the season.
